Bali Police Chief Calls on Public to Protect the Environment Through Green Policing Initiative in Kuta

BADUNG, BALINEWS – Bali Police Chief Inspector General Pasma Royce has called on the public to take an active role in protecting the environment through tree planting, community clean-up activities, and sustainable environmental practices. He made the appeal during a Green Policing initiative at the Baruna Disaster Shelter on Jalan Kuta Art Market, Kuta, Badung, on Friday morning, October 23, 2026.

The activity began at 7 a.m. local time and was led by Pasma, accompanied by Deputy Bali Police Chief Brigadier General I Made Astawa and senior officials from the Bali Regional Police.

The initiative brought together members of Kawan Alam Indonesia, environmental activists, volunteers, local government representatives from the Kuta area, the Kuta Beach Cleaning Task Force, and personnel from various Bali Police units.

During the event, Pasma expressed his appreciation to the environmental community and local residents for their participation in efforts to create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment. He emphasized that environmental protection requires collective commitment and cannot be left to a single institution or group.

Pasma explained that Green Policing is part of the first of eight priority programs under National Police Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto’s Quick Wins initiative, which aims to create safe public spaces by ensuring police officers remain actively present in the daily lives of communities.

“Bali Police personnel must be present among the public in a humane, responsive, and solution-oriented manner. The presence of the police must not only foster a sense of security but also encourage collective awareness of the importance of protecting the environment,” Pasma said.

He stressed that the role of the police extends beyond maintaining public order and security. It also includes supporting social initiatives, environmental conservation, and community activities that improve people's quality of life.

According to Pasma, the Green Policing activities held every Friday morning are also consistent with Bali’s traditional philosophy of Tri Hita Karana, particularly Palemahan, which emphasizes a harmonious relationship between people and the natural environment.

“The Green Policing activities conducted every Friday morning are also aligned with Bali’s local wisdom, known as Tri Hita Karana, particularly Palemahan, which emphasizes harmony between people and nature through maintaining cleanliness, caring for plants, and preserving the environment,” he said.

Pasma encouraged residents to begin with simple, practical actions, such as avoiding littering, keeping public facilities clean, and caring for trees and green spaces in their neighborhoods.

Through the initiative, the Bali Regional Police aim to strengthen cooperation among law enforcement agencies, local government, environmental organizations, and the wider community to preserve Bali’s natural environment.

The program also reflects the police force’s commitment to working alongside the public through concrete actions that support environmental sustainability and harmonious community life across the Island of the Gods.
