Bali Police Chief Welcomes New Udayana Military Commander, Underscoring TNI-Police Cooperation

BADUNG, BALINEWS — Bali Police Chief Inspector General Pasma Royce welcomed the newly appointed Commander of the Udayana Regional Military Command (Kodam IX/Udayana), Major General Putra Widiastawa, upon his arrival at the Base Operations facility of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Air Force Base in Badung on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.

The welcoming ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Bali Regional Police and Kodam IX/Udayana. Putra arrived with his wife, Ny. Putra Widiastawa, who serves as chairwoman of the Regional IX/Udayana chapter of Persit Kartika Chandra Kirana, the Indonesian Army officers’ spouses association.

The arrival was marked by a traditional tepung tawar blessing ceremony led by a Hindu religious leader. The ritual was held as an expression of gratitude and a prayer for divine protection and a smooth transition as Putra begins his duties as the regional military commander.

Following the ceremony, Putra and his wife met with members of Bali’s Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), senior Kodam IX/Udayana officials, and representatives of the regional Persit organization.

The event continued with a reception in the VIP Room at the Base Operations facility of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Air Force Base.

Putra has officially succeeded Major General Piek Budyakto, who has been reassigned to serve as commander of Kodam V/Brawijaya. The leadership change is part of the Indonesian Army’s organizational rotation and career development process.

The presence of Bali Police Chief Pasma Royce at the welcoming ceremony highlighted the institutional relationship between the Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).

Cooperation between the two institutions remains important in supporting security operations, maintaining public order, and safeguarding stability across Bali.

With Putra assuming leadership of Kodam IX/Udayana, coordination between the military, police, and regional authorities is expected to remain an important element in maintaining security and public order throughout the province.
