Bali Police Launch Operation Patuh Agung 2026 to Improve Road Safety and Traffic Discipline

DENPASAR, BALINEWS – The Bali Regional Police have officially launched Operation Patuh Agung 2026, a coordinated traffic enforcement operation scheduled to run for 14 days, from October 26 to November 8, 2026, to improve public awareness of traffic regulations and promote safer road use across Bali.

The force deployment ceremony was led by Bali Police Operations Bureau Chief Kombes Pol. Soelistijono, S.I.K., M.H., who serves as the operation’s chief controller. The ceremony aimed to consolidate personnel and establish a unified approach to maintaining traffic security, safety, order, and smooth traffic flow throughout the province.

In the Bali Police Chief’s address, delivered during the ceremony, the importance of traffic discipline was highlighted, particularly because Bali is an international tourism destination with high levels of mobility among residents and visitors.

However, traffic data from the Bali Police Traffic Directorate for January to September 2026 indicated that road safety remained a serious concern. Enforcement actions recorded through the Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) system increased by 28% compared with the same period in 2025. During the same period, traffic accidents rose by 26%, while fatalities from traffic accidents increased by 2.7%.

Operation Patuh Agung 2026 carries the theme, “Police and the Community Working Together to Build Orderly, Safe, and Secure Traffic.” A total of 1,055 personnel have been deployed, comprising 262 officers from the Bali Regional Police and 793 personnel from district and municipal police units across the province. The operation is also supported by relevant agencies, including the Transportation Agency and Jasa Raharja, Indonesia’s state-owned company responsible for compulsory accident insurance.

This year’s operation emphasizes a balanced approach to traffic enforcement, combining law enforcement with preventive and proactive measures delivered in a humane manner. The initiative aims not only to address violations but also to foster greater public awareness and encourage responsible driving behavior.

In the address, personnel were instructed to carry out their duties professionally, with integrity, firmness, and a humane approach. The use of ETLE is also expected to be optimized to ensure that enforcement remains transparent and accountable.

The operation further prioritizes measurable improvements in public compliance, reductions in traffic accidents, and efforts to minimize fatalities. Officers have been directed to strengthen public education, conduct early threat detection, and identify locations prone to congestion, traffic violations, and accidents.

Coordination with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), local governments, transportation authorities, and community members is also expected to remain a key component of the operation. Personnel have additionally been reminded to maintain discipline and set a positive example while on duty.

Through Operation Patuh Agung 2026, the Bali Regional Police aim to strengthen public compliance with traffic laws, reduce road safety risks, and support Bali’s reputation as a safe, comfortable, and high-quality international tourism destination.
