Bali Police Tighten Security for ICANN87 Welcome Dinner, Deploy Gegana Unit, K9 Teams, and ATV Patrols

NUSA DUA, BALINEWS — The Bali Regional Police have stepped up security for the welcome dinner of the ICANN87 Annual General Meeting 2026 at Heritage Beach Garden, The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, on Monday (October 19, 2026). Venue sweeps and intensified patrols have been deployed to prevent potential security threats during the event, which is attended by international delegates.

Security operations are being conducted by officers assigned to Operation Gapura Agung V-2026. Measures include preliminary venue inspections, security sweeps, and the deployment of personnel at strategic points around the event location.

Bali Police Public Relations Chief Commissioner Ariasandy said security arrangements had been carefully planned and implemented in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and operational plans.

“The Bali Regional Police are carrying out security measures in accordance with established standard operating procedures and operational plans. We have made thorough preparations to ensure that the welcome dinner proceeds safely and smoothly, allowing delegates to feel comfortable throughout their activities in Bali,” Ariasandy said.

Security sweeps were conducted by personnel from the Gegana Detachment of the Bali Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob), together with K9 units from the Bali Police Directorate of Samapta.

The measures were intended to identify and mitigate potential security risks before the venue was used for the event.

In addition to the venue sweeps, patrols using all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) have been intensified in the surrounding area. Police officers have also been deployed for both overt and covert security operations to anticipate potential threats and maintain a safe environment.

Ariasandy emphasized that the security operation prioritizes early threat detection, prevention, and rapid response. All personnel have been instructed to remain vigilant, disciplined, and professional while carrying out their duties.

“When securing any event, particularly one of international scale, we never assume that a situation is completely safe without thorough preparation. Every potential vulnerability must be anticipated from the outset,” he said.

He added that securing international events involves more than ensuring the smooth running of the program. It also reflects the professionalism of the Indonesian National Police and helps maintain international confidence in Bali as a destination for major global events.

The Bali Police, he said, remain committed to providing the highest standards of security while maintaining a humane and public-oriented approach to policing.

Through the integrated security measures under Operation Gapura Agung V-2026, the Bali Police aim to maintain public safety and order throughout the ICANN87 Annual General Meeting 2026 and ensure that international delegates can attend their scheduled activities safely and comfortably.
