Denpasar BNN Busts Suspected Methamphetamine and Ecstasy Network, Two Suspects on the Run

DENPASAR, BALINEWS – The Denpasar City National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has seized 8.5 grams of methamphetamine by gross weight and five ecstasy pills during an operation targeting a suspected illicit drug trafficking network in South Denpasar. The operation, which covered three locations, took place from Tuesday night, October 20, to the early hours of Wednesday, October 21, 2026.

Officers arrested a man identified by the initial F, while two other suspects, identified as IP and N, remain at large.

Head of the Denpasar City BNN, Police Commissioner Leo Dedy Defretes, said the operation involved six field officers from the agency’s enforcement team. The arrests followed nearly two weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering into the suspects’ alleged drug trafficking activities in Denpasar and surrounding areas.

“We had been conducting surveillance and mapping F’s alleged drug trafficking activities in Denpasar and its surrounding areas for nearly two weeks before successfully arresting him at the first location,” Leo said.

Following F’s arrest, officers expanded their investigation to a lodging facility on Jalan Tukad Badung in Renon, South Denpasar. During searches of two separate rooms, officers reportedly found several items of evidence, including a bong used for smoking methamphetamine, plastic sachets, two packets of suspected methamphetamine prepared for distribution, and a digital scale.

The investigation subsequently led officers to a third location, including a house allegedly linked to the suspects’ activities. The agency is continuing to investigate the suspected involvement of other individuals in the alleged trafficking network.

According to Leo, preliminary findings indicate that F was allegedly connected to a drug supplier identified as IP. Officers attempted to locate IP, but the suspect had reportedly fled. Additional evidence was recovered from a room associated with IP.

“We are continuing to develop this case and trace the network further up the chain, including the suspected dealers operating in Bali, particularly in Denpasar,” Leo said.

BNN officers are also searching for N, who allegedly arrived at the first location with F but subsequently fled. Both IP and N remain the subject of an ongoing search.

According to information gathered by the agency and statements from several parties contacted during the investigation, IP had allegedly been arrested and detained twice previously in connection with similar narcotics offenses. Investigators are continuing to examine IP’s alleged role in the current case.

Leo said BNN Denpasar plans to issue wanted notices for the suspects once investigators have completed the necessary evidentiary requirements and coordinated with relevant authorities. The process was expected to proceed within the following one to two days, he added.

“As of this morning, we are still actively searching for the suspects who fled,” Leo said.

Beyond enforcement, Leo emphasized that BNN Denpasar is also strengthening efforts to prevent drug abuse, particularly among young people. He urged the public to develop personal awareness and resilience to avoid becoming victims of drug abuse or becoming involved in illicit drug trafficking.

The investigation remains ongoing as BNN seeks to uncover the broader suspected network, including individuals allegedly supplying narcotics to those involved in the case.
