DENPASAR, BALINEWS – The man suspected of stabbing a 31-year-old resident, identified by the initials Kadek OPS, inside his home in Kesiman Kertalangu, East Denpasar, has been arrested. The suspect, identified as AP alias Angga, 34, was apprehended by a joint police team at Padangbai Port in Karangasem on Tuesday (November 3, 2026), at around 8:00 a.m. local time.
The assault took place at the victim's residence on Jalan Soka No. 7, Kesiman Kertalangu Village, at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Thursday (October 29, 2026). The victim sustained multiple injuries, including stab wounds.
According to the police investigation, the incident came to light when the victim's mother, 67-year-old Ni Ketut Sulastri, woke up after hearing a commotion inside the house. When she checked, she saw her son fighting with an unidentified man who was carrying a knife.
Sulastri attempted to intervene but was pushed and threatened with being stabbed by the man. Fearing for her safety, she escaped through the house's rolling shutter door and gate to seek help from nearby residents.
A few minutes later, the victim came out of the house covered in blood. He reportedly told a witness named Ria that someone was locked inside the house.
A neighbor, Komang Adnyana, subsequently took the victim to Dharma Yadnya Hospital. He was later referred to Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital, formerly known as Sanglah Hospital, in Denpasar for further medical treatment.
Initial examinations found injuries to the left side of the victim's face, chest, left waist, and both hands.
Police identified the suspect after finding a mobile phone left at the crime scene. Investigators traced the device and identified its owner as AP alias Angga, who was subsequently suspected of being involved in the assault.
Following a series of investigative efforts, officers from the Unit V Operational Team of the Denpasar Police Criminal Investigation Unit, together with investigators from the East Denpasar Police, tracked down and arrested the suspect at Padangbai Port.
During questioning, Angga reportedly told investigators that he had argued with his wife at their home in Dauh Puri Kaja, North Denpasar, on Wednesday (October 28, 2026), at around 7:30 p.m.
After the argument, he left home alone on a motorcycle and headed to the victim's residence. He claimed that he had previously rented a house near the location and intended to check a well.
The suspect arrived at approximately 12:30 a.m. Upon discovering that the well had been covered, he said he wandered around the property. He then noticed that the doors to the house and the victim's bedroom were open.
According to his account, he found a knife at the location, picked it up, and entered the house carrying the weapon.
At around 1:30 a.m., he entered the victim's bedroom, waking the victim, who immediately shouted. The suspect claimed that he panicked and stabbed the victim four times in the chest.
The victim reportedly fought back by scratching the suspect's forehead and kicking his left rib area, causing him to fall and drop the knife.
The suspect then left the scene and fled on his motorcycle, which he had parked beside an empty plot of land near the victim's house.
Meanwhile, the victim's condition has reportedly improved. However, he has not yet been available for questioning as he remains under medical care.
Denpasar Police Chief Kombes Pol I Wayan Winaya, S.I.K., M.H., said the case was uncovered through investigative efforts and coordination between the joint police teams.
