MN KAHMI: Alleged Illegal Surveillance of President Prabowo Could Amount to an Act of Treason

JAKARTA, BALINEWS – The National Council of the Corps of Alumni of the Islamic Students Association (MN KAHMI) has raised concerns over allegations of illegal interception, unauthorized access, and the deletion of electronic evidence targeting Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and several state officials. The organization described the alleged activities as a serious threat to national sovereignty and political stability, warning that they could potentially amount to acts of treason.

In an official statement dated November 6, 2026, MN KAHMI said the alleged interception of sensitive presidential information went beyond an ordinary legal violation, potentially threatening national security and the safety of the country's leadership.

MN KAHMI also expressed its full support for a statement by State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, who reportedly described the matter as highly sensitive and potentially involving treason, insubordination, mutiny, and actions that could endanger national leaders and state interests.

MN KAHMI Presidium Coordinator Dr. K.H. Romo H.R. Muhamma, S.H., M.Hum., outlined four key positions in response to the allegations.

First, MN KAHMI expressed its full support for President Prabowo Subianto's decisive measures and strategic decisions to safeguard the authority of the national leadership and maintain the country's defense and security stability.

The organization said such measures were necessary to ensure that the presidential institution remained protected from any attempts to sabotage or unlawfully access sensitive government information.

Second, MN KAHMI urged the Indonesian National Police (Polri), particularly investigators from the Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim), to conduct a comprehensive, transparent, and objective investigation based on scientific crime investigation methods.

The organization called on investigators to identify and examine all individuals suspected of involvement, regardless of their positions or ranks. It also urged authorities to uncover the motives, networks, and alleged masterminds behind the unauthorized access to sensitive presidential information.

Third, MN KAHMI called on the government to strengthen Indonesia's national cybersecurity systems across all government institutions, including civilian and military agencies.

According to the organization, tighter cybersecurity measures are essential to prevent similar breaches of strategic information from occurring in the future and to protect information that could have implications for national security.

Fourth, MN KAHMI appealed to the public to remain calm, preserve national unity, and allow law enforcement authorities to handle the case in accordance with applicable legal procedures.

The organization also stressed that the ongoing legal developments should not disrupt public services or essential government operations.

MN KAHMI reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring the legal process to ensure justice is upheld and the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) is preserved.

The statement was signed by MN KAHMI Presidium Coordinator Dr. K.H. Romo H.R. Muhamma, S.H., M.Hum., in Jakarta on November 6, 2026.

MN KAHMI emphasized that a thorough investigation was essential to establish the facts, identify those responsible, and ensure that anyone found to have violated the law is held accountable in accordance with applicable legal provisions.

As of the issuance of the statement, the allegations and the legal characterization of the alleged activities had yet to be established through a judicial process.
