Pertamina Denies Bali Fuel Disruptions Are Linked to Mandalika MotoGP, Cites Consumption Shift and Unloading Issues

DENPASAR, BALINEWS – PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has denied that fuel supply disruptions in Bali are linked to the Mandalika MotoGP event, attributing the situation to a shift in consumer demand from non-subsidized to subsidized fuel, coupled with technical problems during fuel unloading operations at Manggis Terminal.

Ahad Rahedi, Area Manager for Communication, Relations and CSR at Pertamina Patra Niaga’s East Java, Bali and Nusa Tenggara Regional Office (Jatimbalinus), emphasized that the current situation in Bali was unrelated to the MotoGP event.

“There is no connection between the MotoGP event and the current situation in Bali. The situation has been caused by changes in consumption patterns as consumers shift from non-subsidized to subsidized fuel, alongside technical issues during ship-unloading operations at Manggis Terminal,” Ahad said on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

To address the disruption, Pertamina Patra Niaga is strengthening fuel supplies and distribution through additional shipments, optimized fuel tanker operations, and 24-hour services at fuel terminals and selected gas stations.

Of the approximately 57.9 million liters of additional fuel supply scheduled to arrive between October 14 and 17, around 19 million liters had reached Sanggaran Fuel Terminal and Manggis Integrated Terminal. The remaining supplies were expected to arrive in stages over the following two to three days.

The additional shipments include Pertalite and Pertamax to strengthen fuel availability and improve distribution to gas stations across Bali.

108 Fuel Tankers Deployed, 66 Gas Stations Open 24 Hours

To accelerate distribution, Pertamina has deployed 108 fuel tankers supported by 465 tanker crew members.

Sanggaran Fuel Terminal and Manggis Integrated Terminal are also operating around the clock to optimize fuel receipt and distribution.

In addition, 66 gas stations across Denpasar and Badung are operating 24 hours a day to improve public access to fuel and help ease vehicle queues.

Kitty Andhora, Vice President of Corporate Communication at Pertamina Patra Niaga, said the company was continuing to take measures to restore fuel services in Bali, with priority given to meeting public demand.

“We continue to optimize fuel supplies and distribution in Bali through additional shipments, the readiness of our fuel tanker fleet, and 24-hour operations at terminals and gas stations. Service conditions in several areas are gradually improving. However, recovery efforts will continue to ensure smoother distribution and meet the public’s fuel needs,” Kitty said.

Retail Fuel Sales Reach 5,000 Liters per Day

In addition to increasing supplies and strengthening distribution, Pertamina Patra Niaga has expanded retail fuel sales by the liter at several gas stations in Denpasar, particularly in areas experiencing heavy traffic and long queues.

Since the service was introduced, sales through this arrangement have reached approximately 5,000 liters per day.

The initiative is intended to help meet public fuel demand and improve service efficiency amid high vehicle queues.

As distribution gradually returns to normal, Pertamina has urged the public to purchase fuel according to their needs and use it for its intended purpose.

The company also warned against stockpiling fuel or purchasing subsidized fuel for illegal resale, saying such practices could disrupt distribution and disadvantage eligible consumers.

Pertamina Patra Niaga reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening fuel supplies, distribution and services until fuel availability and delivery across Bali return to normal and the energy needs of the public are adequately met.
