BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR – A road widening and landfilling project in a mangrove area where trees had previously been cleared resumed operations on Tuesday (April 28, 2026) at around 3:45 p.m. local time, despite the site having earlier been sealed by members of the TRAP Special Committee (Pansus TRAP) and the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP).
Field observations showed heavy equipment once again operating at the location, carrying out landfilling and leveling works in an area that has drawn public attention following the cutting of mangrove trees. Several workers were also seen carrying out normal activities at the project site.
The resumption of work has raised questions, considering that the TRAP Special Committee and Satpol PP had previously sealed the site as part of a temporary suspension pending clarification over permits and alleged violations in the area.
Several local residents expressed surprise after seeing the project restart, saying there had been no official explanation regarding the removal of the seal or authorization for the continuation of construction.
They argued that the mangrove area should be under strict protection due to its vital role in preventing coastal erosion and preserving the coastal ecosystem.
Meanwhile, when contacted via WhatsApp, Head of Bali Provincial Satpol PP I Dewa Nyoman Rai Dharmadi gave a brief response regarding the resumed activities.
“Yes, I will coordinate with BTID first. We will convey the matter and coordinate first,” he said.
The case is expected to draw renewed public attention, as mangrove areas are considered environmentally sensitive zones closely linked to conservation and regional spatial planning.
