GIANYAR, BALINEWS.ID – A stimulating culinary journey through history returns with the second edition of Rasayatra, a narrative culinary program by Pramana Experience. Themed “Taste of Majapahit: Journey Beyond Time,” the event was officially launched at Sanna Ubud A Pramana Experience on Saturday (31/5). The program offers a dining experience reminiscent of the Majapahit royal court, blended with historical narration, culture, and classical art performances.

More than just a feast, Rasayatra is an exploration of gastronomy curated deeply with a historical approach. Under the leadership of Chef Perak and curated by Cilik Pamungkas, Corporate Assistant Director of Marketing at Pramana Experience, the dishes presented not only tantalize the palate but also serve as a gateway to understanding the noble values of the Nusantara civilization.

Historically-Based Dishes and Inscriptions
The menu served during Rasayatra is the result of culinary research based on ancient manuscripts such as Negarakertagama, and several inscriptions including Prasasti Kudadu, Balawi, and Sukamerta. The dishes reflect foods that were served during sima ceremonies and royal celebrations.

Among them is Ayam Bumbung Majapahit, village chicken cooked in bamboo with traditional spices from ancient times. Ikan Kali Panggang Lenga, freshwater fish grilled with coconut oil and ancient citrus leaves. Nasi Sima, a dish of rice with traditional side dishes typically served during sima land allotment ceremonies. Kue Tumpi and Dadar Gulung Nira, classic snacks inspired by royal delicacies.

These dishes are not only authentically presented but also woven into the historical narrative, inviting guests to traverse time and understand the social context behind each delicacy.

The launch of Rasayatra was accompanied by the “Tutur Tantri” dance-drama performance, an interpretative dance piece that explores moral tales from Javanese and Balinese cultures. Presented by artists from Tegallalang, the performance enhanced the sacred and elegant atmosphere of the event held amidst the majestic architecture of the Majapahit style.

“This year, we are not just serving food, but reviving the spirit of civilization, taste, and the noble values of Majapahit’s glory, connecting culture to our guests. Held Simultaneously Across 17 Properties Over 3 Months
Not limited to a single launch event, Rasayatra will take place simultaneously at 17 Pramana properties across various locations in Indonesia from May 31 to August 31, 2025. The event will involve over 200 local SMEs and farmers, reaching more than 1,000 culinary enthusiasts from 50 countries.

Each location will offer its unique version of Rasayatra, maintaining historical value, sustainability, and engaging local communities.

Vinsensius Jemadu, Deputy of Tourism Product and Event Organizer from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia, referred to Rasayatra as a tangible form of positioning Ubud as a global gastronomy destination.

Governor of Bali I Wayan Koster also appreciated this program as part of the vision of Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali, which emphasizes sustainability and the strength of local culture.
