BALINEWS.ID – As Europe continues to strengthen its position as one of Indonesia’s most lucrative tourism feeder markets, the Bali Sales and Marketing Community (BASCOMM) convened hundreds of hospitality professionals for a strategic industry workshop aimed at decoding evolving European travel trends.
The half-day workshop, titled “Europe Market: Pulse and Trendline,” was held on Wednesday at the Bali Sunset Road Convention Centre and attracted more than 450 participants from across Bali’s hospitality sector, including sales, marketing, and revenue management professionals. The strong turnout underscored the industry’s collective commitment to strengthening international market penetration and sustaining revenue growth.
Designed as a forward-looking platform, the workshop addressed the rapidly changing dynamics of European travel behaviour. Discussions centered on three strategic pillars considered critical for hospitality success in Europe: visibility, distribution, and conversion. Participants were encouraged to realign their commercial strategies with the expectations of European travellers, who are increasingly value-driven, sustainability-conscious, and experience-oriented.

The event featured a lineup of prominent industry speakers offering comprehensive insights into the European market landscape.
Erkan Tuncaakar, Product Manager Asia at DERTOUR Group, Europe’s largest travel group, presented an in-depth overview of current European market trends. He highlighted a growing preference for sustainable travel and emphasized that European travellers remain among Bali’s most loyal and high-spending visitors.
Meanwhile, Nicoline Dolman, Group Contracting Leader at Discova, shared data-backed strategies on strengthening Bali’s presence in the European market. She outlined how accommodation providers can adapt to shifting booking behaviours while enhancing their global distribution reach through strategic partnerships.
Representing the workshop’s lead sponsor, Muhamad Rifki, Senior Business Development Executive at Control Union Indonesia, addressed the rising importance of certification and sustainability standards. He noted that compliance with international sustainability benchmarks has become a decisive factor for European travellers when selecting accommodation.
“Europe is not just a high-volume market; it is a high-value market that prioritizes quality and authentic experiences,” said Gufron, CHA, Managing Director of Alpha Hotel Management (AHM) and Advisor of BASCOMM, who attended the event alongside Putu Arisudhiana, Chairman of BASCOMM.
“Today’s turnout of 450 professionals demonstrates the industry’s determination to stay ahead of the curve. By understanding these pulse and trendlines, Bali’s businesses can better navigate the complexities of international reach and drive sustainable revenue growth,” Gufron added.
The workshop concluded with an interactive panel discussion focusing on seasonal demand challenges and the ongoing transformation of the European travel landscape, offering practical insights to help businesses maintain a competitive edge.
BASCOMM also expressed appreciation to its partners, including DERTOUR Group, Discova, Control Union Indonesia, and the Bali Sunset Road Convention Centre, for their support in making the event a success.
Looking ahead, BASCOMM reaffirmed its commitment to organizing future educational and strategic initiatives to equip Bali’s hospitality professionals with the tools needed to thrive in an increasingly competitive global tourism environment.
