Chef Ashley Garvey Ignites a New Culinary Era at MAMAKA by Ovolo

BALINEWS.ID –  MAMAKA by Ovolo has officially turned up the heat with the arrival of its new Executive Chef, Ashley Garvey, an Australian-born culinary maverick whose journey spans Melbourne kitchens, Michelin-starred restaurants, and Bali’s boldest dining rooms.

From scrubbing pans at 15 to steering star-level kitchens across continents, Chef Ashley now brings his flavor-packed, rock’n’roll style to Kuta Social Club, Bali’s most vibrant rooftop playground.

Chef Ashley’s story is anything but ordinary. He left school at 15 and quickly found purpose in the chaos and adrenaline of professional kitchens. By 16, he was running his own section. After refining his craft at the William Angliss Institute, he trained under the legendary Italian chef Riccardo Momesso, a mentorship born from wild game hunts, long nights, and a shared devotion to soulful food.

His knives then took him across Australia, through Michelin-starred Turners in the UK, and into Bali’s top culinary arenas, including Mozaic Beach Club, Starfish Bloo at W Bali, and five years as Executive Chef at Shishi Izakaya Lounge.

Now, Chef Ashley is rewriting the playbook once more returning to his Mediterranean roots but infusing them with the boldness, spontaneity, and rooftop swagger that define Kuta Social Club.

“Food isn’t just what’s on the plate, it’s the music in the room, the clink of glasses, the stories told between bites. MAMAKA has that pulse, it’s alive, spontaneous, and unapologetically real.
