BLIMBING, CENTRAL JAVA, BALINEWS — The family of defendant LJA visited the victim’s family at their home in Blimbing Hamlet, Dadapayam Village, Suruh District, Semarang Regency, Central Java, on Friday morning (October 2, 2026), amid an ongoing legal process stemming from a deadly brawl in Salatiga that claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy.
LJA’s family was accompanied by their legal counsel, Endang Hastuty Bunga, S.H. (EHB), of Queen Law & Partners Law Firm in Denpasar, Bali.
During the visit, the family expressed their condolences and sympathy and offered a direct apology to the victim’s family over the incident.
EHB said the visit was intended as a gesture of goodwill and reflected the family’s moral and humanitarian responsibility toward the victim’s family.
“We came to Blimbing together with representatives of the family to convey our sincere sympathy, condolences, and apology on behalf of the defendant’s family,” EHB said.
According to EHB, the family understands that the grief experienced by the victim’s family cannot easily be erased. For that reason, they chose to come in person to express their condolences and apologize directly.
“We realize that the pain and grief experienced by the victim’s family cannot simply be erased. However, we believe we have a moral responsibility to be present, express our condolences, and offer our apology in person,” she said.
The visit was related to a deadly brawl involving groups of teenagers on Jalan Lingkar Selatan (JLS) in Salatiga in the early hours of Thursday, July 2, 2026. The incident was reportedly triggered by a challenge exchanged on social media between two groups identified.
During the clash, a 14-year-old boy identified by the initials MA, from Semarang Regency, suffered injuries after being doused with a substance suspected to be acid. He was taken to hospital for treatment but died on Monday afternoon, July 6, 2026.
Several other teenagers were also reported injured in the incident, including injuries allegedly caused by bladed weapons. Police subsequently detained several individuals and named a number of young people as suspects in connection with the case.
Authorities also seized various pieces of evidence during the investigation, including several types of bladed weapons and bottles believed to have contained an acidic substance.
EHB emphasized that the family’s visit to the victim’s home was not intended to interfere with or influence the ongoing legal proceedings.
“This is a humanitarian gesture. We continue to respect the entire legal process currently underway at the Salatiga District Court. The defendant will also remain cooperative and respect every stage of the proceedings,” she said.
LJA’s family hopes that their condolences and apology will be received by the victim’s family. At the same time, the family reiterated its commitment to respecting the ongoing legal process at the Salatiga District Court.
