Bali Police Chief Inspects ICANN87 Command Center as Security Is Strengthened for 2,500 Delegates from 180 Countries

NUSA DUA, BALINEWS — Bali Police Chief Inspector General Pasma Royce personally inspected the readiness of the Bali Police Command Center at the ITDC Nusa Dua complex on Saturday, October 17, 2026, to ensure security arrangements for the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN87) Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2026 were operating optimally.

The inspection was conducted alongside Bali Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General I Made Astawa and several senior Bali Police officials. The review focused on the readiness of facilities and infrastructure, the optimization of monitoring systems, and the effectiveness of coordination among personnel assigned to secure the international event at the Bali International Convention Centre (BICC) in Nusa Dua, Bali.

The international meeting is attended by approximately 2,000 to 2,500 delegates from around 180 countries. Given the scale of the event, security preparedness remains a key priority to ensure that all activities proceed safely, orderly, and smoothly.

Through the Command Center, Bali Police is strengthening security monitoring and coordination among operational units. The system is expected to help officers detect developments more quickly, enabling personnel on the ground to respond appropriately and effectively.

Bali Police Public Relations Chief Senior Commissioner Ariasandy said the police chief's direct inspection was part of efforts to ensure that all security arrangements for ICANN87 AGM 2026 comply with established standard operating procedures (SOPs).

“The Bali Police Chief wants to ensure that all supporting security facilities and infrastructure are ready and that monitoring and coordination systems function optimally. With this level of preparedness, any developments can be addressed quickly, accurately, and in a measured manner,” Ariasandy said.

He explained that security arrangements for international events are not limited to preventing potential threats to public order and security. They also aim to ensure the safety and comfort of delegates, event organizers, and members of the public in surrounding areas.

According to Ariasandy, Bali Police is committed to implementing security measures that are professional, measured, and people-oriented. All personnel have been instructed to follow established procedures, maintain vigilance, and provide courteous service while remaining firm in carrying out their security responsibilities.

Personnel readiness, supported by monitoring technology and coordinated operations, is considered essential to anticipating potential security disturbances throughout the international meeting.

In addition to protecting delegates, the security arrangements are designed to allow daily activities in the Nusa Dua area to continue with minimal disruption while the event is underway.

Bali Police expects that well-prepared facilities, reliable monitoring technology, trained personnel, and cooperation among relevant agencies will contribute to the smooth running of ICANN87 AGM 2026.

Effective security arrangements are also expected to reinforce the international community's confidence in Bali as a destination for major global events.

For Bali Police, successful security operations are measured not only by the smooth running of an event but also by the ability to provide a sense of safety, deliver people-oriented services, and create a positive experience for delegates and the local community on the Island of the Gods.
