BGN Engages 69,000 MSMEs as Government Targets Stronger Regional Supply Chains

BADUNG, BALINEWS – A total of 69,000 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have joined the supply chain of Indonesia’s National Nutrition Agency (Badan Gizi Nasional/BGN). However, the Ministry of MSMEs says the figure remains insufficient and is seeking to expand business participation while strengthening regional supply chain ecosystems.

Minister of MSMEs Maman Abdurrahman said the involvement of 69,000 MSMEs should not be viewed as the final achievement. The government is continuing its efforts to bring more small and medium-sized businesses into the BGN ecosystem.

“We must acknowledge this figure. However, we are not yet satisfied with the participation of 69,000 micro, small, and medium enterprises in this ecosystem,” Maman said at the Government Credit Program Forum on Thursday (October 29, 2026).

According to Maman, developing the BGN ecosystem requires more than simply increasing the number of MSMEs serving as suppliers. The government is also focusing on building sustainable regional supply chains to encourage productive business activities and stimulate local economic growth.

He cited examples of regions that had not previously focused on chicken farming and fish cultivation but have begun developing these sectors as the BGN ecosystem expands.

Similar opportunities are emerging in the vegetable sector. Regions that previously struggled to find buyers for their produce now have the potential to access broader markets through the supply chains established under the program.

“This means that, in addition to involving MSME business entities, we are also placing emphasis on developing the supply chain ecosystem,” Maman said.

Through these efforts, the government aims to ensure that the BGN ecosystem does more than absorb products from existing businesses. It is also expected to create opportunities for new production activities based on regional supply needs, helping strengthen local economies and expand market access for MSMEs.
