Denpasar Immigration Detains Nigerian National for Overstaying His Stay Permit by 155 Days

DENPASAR, BALINEWS — The Denpasar Class I Immigration Office has detained a 28-year-old Nigerian national identified by the initials M.U.O. for allegedly overstaying his residence permit by 155 days.

The foreign national was detained during an immigration patrol in the Jalan Bajataki area of Padangsambian Kaja, West Denpasar, on Friday, October 23, 2026.

The operation was conducted by the office’s Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement Section after officers received information about a foreign national suspected of violating immigration regulations.

The patrol began at 4 p.m. local time and targeted several locations considered potential gathering places for foreign nationals within the office’s jurisdiction.

While searching the Jalan Bajataki area, officers received information about M.U.O.’s suspected immigration violation. They subsequently visited the location and checked his immigration documents.

According to the Denpasar Immigration Office, preliminary checks indicated that M.U.O. had overstayed his permitted period of stay by 155 days. He was then taken to the immigration office for further questioning and processing in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

The office said the initial examination was conducted in a persuasive and professional manner, with due consideration for security and public order.

Denpasar Class I Immigration Office Head R. Haryo Sakti said immigration patrols were part of ongoing efforts to monitor the presence and activities of foreign nationals in the office’s jurisdiction.

“Any suspected immigration violation will be followed up promptly in accordance with applicable regulations,” Haryo Sakti said in a statement issued on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

He also encouraged members of the public to report suspected immigration violations involving foreign nationals to the authorities.

Meanwhile, Ramdhani, head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, commended the Denpasar Immigration Office for responding swiftly to information gathered during the patrol.

He emphasized that all foreign nationals residing in Bali must comply with Indonesian laws and conduct activities in accordance with their respective stay permits.

Ramdhani added that immigration supervision would continue to be strengthened through targeted monitoring, while maintaining prudence throughout enforcement procedures.

The immigration authorities said continued patrols and monitoring were intended to improve compliance with immigration regulations and maintain public order across Bali.
