TABANAN, BALINEWS — The Attorney General’s Adhyaksa Monitoring Center (AMC), in coordination with the Bali High Prosecutor’s Office Intelligence Team, has arrested Firman Handoko, a convicted fraudster whose crime caused losses of Rp50 billion (approximately US$3 million). He was apprehended at a restaurant in the Bedugul area of Tabanan, Bali, on Friday, October 9, 2026, after being on the run for approximately 880 days.
According to Supreme Court Cassation Decision No. 125 K/Pid/2024, dated February 27, 2024, Firman was found legally and conclusively guilty of fraud under Article 378 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP). The court sentenced him to two years and seven months in prison.
The arrest followed an intensive manhunt that tracked Firman across several regions. The operation began on Wednesday night, October 7, 2026, after the AMC team coordinated with the Bali High Prosecutor’s Office.
The AMC team initially traveled from Jakarta to Yogyakarta to trace Firman’s whereabouts. However, tracking information indicated that he had moved to Sidoarjo, East Java, before heading to Banyuwangi and crossing to Bali through Ketapang Port.
The AMC team continued pursuing him to Bali, while the Bali High Prosecutor’s Office Intelligence Team remained on standby to coordinate and support the operation.
After intensive tracking and surveillance, the joint team finally located and arrested Firman at a restaurant in Bedugul, Tabanan.
At the time of his arrest, Firman was reportedly on a holiday trip with his wife and two children. The arrest proceeded safely and without incident, as Firman and his family cooperated with the authorities and offered no resistance.
Following his arrest, Firman was taken to the Bali High Prosecutor’s Office, arriving at approximately 5:15 p.m. local time. He was received by the Assistant for Intelligence and other intelligence officials.
He was subsequently handed over to the Denpasar District Prosecutor’s Office, which is responsible for carrying out the court’s final and legally binding sentence.
The Bali High Prosecutor’s Office said the successful arrest demonstrated the prosecution service’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that final court judgments are enforced.
The office also stressed that convicted individuals would not be allowed to evade the execution of legally binding court sentences.
