DENPASAR, BALINEWS — The legal team representing I Made Daging, a former head of the Bali Regional Office of the National Land Agency (BPN), has filed a complaint against members of the Bali Police’s Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) with the police’s Professional and Security Division (Propam) on Saturday (October 10, 2026).
The complaint concerns alleged obstruction of Daging’s efforts to report the suspected use of forged documents allegedly involving I Made Tarip Widarta and other parties.
Several lawyers arrived at the Bali Police headquarters at around 11 a.m. Central Indonesian Time (WITA) to submit the complaint. The legal team comprised I Made Ariel Suardana, S.H., M.H., also known as Ariel; Komang Nila Adnyani, S.H.; Nurdin, S.H., M.H.; I Putu Budi Astika, S.H., M.H.; Aryantha Wijaya, S.H.; and Cokorda Istri Oka Adnyaswari, S.H.
According to the lawyers, the complaint followed several attempts to report the alleged use of forged documents, which they believe is related to the designation of Daging as a suspect in a land dispute case.
The legal team claimed that their efforts to file the report repeatedly encountered obstacles because police required Daging to appear in person as the complainant, despite his being in detention at the time.
They said they had sent a letter to the Bali Police’s Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation on September 21, 2026, but had not received what they considered an adequate response.
At around 2 p.m. that same day, the lawyers went to the Integrated Police Service Center (SPKT) of the Bali Police’s Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum). However, they claimed that the requirement for Daging to appear in person remained in place.
A further attempt was made on October 2, 2026, at around 1 p.m. The lawyers said they encountered the same requirement.
The dispute continued on October 5, 2026, at around 5 p.m., when the legal team said a disagreement arose with Ditreskrimsus investigators Suherman Prayudi and I Ketut Siwa Darmadi over the procedure for filing a criminal complaint using a special power of attorney.
According to the lawyers, they subsequently invited the investigators to visit the Ditreskrimum’s SPKT office to clarify the reporting procedure. However, they said the discussion instead focused on the standard operating procedures applicable at the Bali Police’s Directorate of General Criminal Investigation.
Based on these incidents, the legal team suspects that their client’s right to file a criminal complaint may have been obstructed. They therefore brought the matter to Propam, citing National Police Regulation No. 7 of 2022 on the Police Code of Professional Ethics.
The lawyers urged Propam to follow up on the complaint and examine the individuals they suspect of having impeded the reporting process. They also called for appropriate disciplinary sanctions if ethical violations are established.
As of the time of publication, the Bali Police had not issued a statement regarding the substance of the complaint or responded to the allegations of obstruction raised by Daging’s legal team.
