Instagram Account @kep_alakeluarga Reported to Bali Police over Alleged False Information

DENPASAR, BALINEWS – The owner of the Instagram account @kep_alakeluarga has been reported to the Bali Regional Police over allegations of spreading false information through several posts that were claimed to have caused public controversy. The complaint was filed by I Gusti Agung Ngurah Gede Tri Widyanta, accompanied by his legal team from Atlantis Law Office, on Thursday (October 29, 2026).

Gede Bima, the complainant’s lawyer, said the public complaint concerned alleged violations of Indonesia’s Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) Law. He said the complaint referred to Article 28 paragraphs (1) and (3) of the law.

“We are here to assist our client in filing a public complaint concerning alleged violations of the ITE Law related to posts published by the Instagram account @kep_alakeluarga. The posts have been published repeatedly and, in our view, have caused public controversy,” Bima said.

According to Bima, the complainant believes several posts on the account contained information that did not reflect the facts and was not supported by sufficient evidence. He claimed the content had harmed his client’s interests, including causing financial losses.

Bima explained that the alleged violation of Article 28 paragraph (1) concerned information that the complainant believed could cause harm to his client. Meanwhile, Article 28 paragraph (3) was cited in relation to posts that allegedly triggered public debate and conflicting opinions.

“The posts and the various comments on the Instagram account have sparked differing opinions and debate. We believe the information presented was not supported by sufficient evidence or facts, causing discomfort among social media users,” he said.

Bima added that the disputed posts also concerned public officials in Bali. He stressed that the public needed access to accurate and accountable information to prevent content that could cause public concern from spreading in the public sphere.

“Our client hopes that social media users will receive positive, accurate, and fact-based information, rather than information that creates controversy in the public sphere,” he said.

The legal team expressed hope that the Bali Regional Police would follow up on the complaint in accordance with applicable procedures and legal provisions.

As of the time of publication, the owner of the Instagram account @kep_alakeluarga had not issued a response regarding the complaint.
