National Police Internal Affairs Registers Made Daging’s Complaint, Alleged Obstruction of Police Report Under Scrutiny

DENPASAR, BALINEWS — The Professional and Security Division (Propam) of the Indonesian National Police Headquarters has registered a complaint filed by the legal team of I Made Daging, the former Head of the Bali Regional Office of the National Land Agency (BPN), over alleged obstruction when their client attempted to report a suspected criminal offense. The complaint is expected to be followed up through the applicable procedures.

Made Daging’s lawyer, I Made Ariel Suardana, disclosed the development after a pretrial hearing at the Denpasar District Court on Monday (October 12, 2026), which was scheduled for the parties to submit their final arguments.

According to Ariel, the legal team had received an official letter from Propam at National Police Headquarters confirming that their complaint had been registered.

“We have received a letter from National Police Headquarters, specifically from Propam. We have seen that the complaint has been registered and assigned a registration number. Further steps will follow,” he said.

In addition to filing the complaint with Propam at National Police Headquarters, the legal team has also submitted a formal complaint to the Head of the Bali Regional Police’s Propam Division.

Ariel said the team had also sent information and complaints to the President of Indonesia, Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), the National Police Commission (Kompolnas), and several other state institutions.

The move was intended to draw attention to the alleged obstruction experienced by their client. The lawyers hope the matter will be reviewed and addressed through the police’s internal oversight mechanisms.

They believe the issue warrants attention because it concerns an individual’s right to report a suspected criminal offense to law enforcement authorities.

The legal team also hopes the complaint will prompt an evaluation by police leadership, including officials within the Bali police force, to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

As of the time of publication, police had not issued a statement regarding the substance of the complaint or any substantive follow-up action. The alleged obstruction remains subject to clarification by the parties concerned.

The complaint was filed while Made Daging’s pretrial proceedings were underway at the Denpasar District Court. On Monday, October 12, the case, registered under Number 16/Pid.Pra/2026/PN Denpasar, entered the stage for the parties to submit their final arguments. The Bali Regional Police’s Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) is the respondent in the proceedings.

The legal team hopes the pretrial process will proceed in accordance with the law and that all complaints submitted will receive transparent follow-up.

They have also called for an objective examination of the alleged obstruction through the police’s internal oversight procedures.
