BALINEWS.ID – Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau has officially launched Picasso: Beauty and Drama, a world premiere exhibition featuring more than 140 original works by Pablo Picasso. Presented by SJM Resorts as part of Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2025, the exhibition runs until 26 October.
Organized in collaboration with Museo Casa Natal Picasso and supported by the Málaga City Council and related cultural institutions, the exhibition offers a rare and intimate look into the life and creative evolution of one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Visitors will encounter an extraordinary collection of paintings, ceramics, illustrations, manuscripts, and prints that explore Picasso’s shifting views on beauty and the emotional intensity behind his art.
SJM Managing Director Daisy Ho said the showcase reflects SJM’s commitment to cultural tourism and meaningful international exchange.
“This exhibition represents our vision of blending culture with travel. It celebrates cross-cultural dialogue while honoring both global and Chinese artistic heritage,” she said.
According to Leong Wai Man, Director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Art Macao has become a powerful platform for cultural collaboration and creativity.
“SJM’s continuous support has helped raise Macau’s cultural profile with bold, internationally relevant curations,” she added.
The exhibition is divided into themed galleries exploring Picasso’s views on classical beauty, mythology, Spanish identity, relationships with women, ceramic experimentation, diverse techniques, and key masterpieces. Standout works include Figure in Striped Bodice, Paloma with Doll, Black Background, Knight and Horse, and Painter with Brush and Model with Headscarf.
Interactive spaces within the exhibition invite guests to reflect and create. The Mirror Room uses distorted reflections to spark self-exploration, while Where Are You Going? encourages visitors to consider life’s many paths, inspired by Picasso’s own journey.
Alongside the exhibition, creative workshops at GLP Arte offer hands-on experiences like clay sculpting and collage making. Visitors can also join reflective sessions inside the “Living Classroom” or take home exclusive souvenirs such as books, mugs, bags, and umbrellas.
Admission starts at MOP298 for adults, with discounted rates for students, seniors, Macau residents, and hotel guests. Family and group ticket options are also available. Guided tours in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin enhance the experience.
Located on Level 2 of Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, the exhibition is open daily, with extended hours on weekends. Last admission is one hour before closing.
Hotel packages are available for those wishing to pair their visit with a luxury stay. Each package includes breakfast for two, exhibition tickets, and optional add-ons like TurboJET ferry tickets, coach transfers, or limousine service. Rates start at MOP1,688++ per night. Families can also enjoy the SAMmer Staycation, a themed holiday package that includes kid-friendly rooms, afternoon tea, digital play zones, and access to multiple art exhibitions. (*)
