BADUNG, BALINEWS.ID — Ayodya Resort Bali has unveiled a powerful new sustainability effort in collaboration with Diversey Indonesia, a Solenis company. Their joint program, PlasticShreds, aims to combat Bali’s escalating plastic pollution crisis by engaging guests, staff, and the local community in practical, meaningful environmental action.
The initiative introduces a dedicated single-use plastic collection point along the resort’s iconic beachfront. Here, guests are encouraged to discard bottles, containers, and other plastics responsibly, waste that too often ends up harming Bali’s delicate coral reefs and marine habitats.
The collected plastics are then transformed into useful materials such as gravel, building blocks, and home décor, showcasing a circular economy model that turns environmental threats into valuable resources.
Plastic pollution remains a pressing issue across Indonesia. As one of the world’s largest contributors to ocean plastic waste, the country produces millions of tons of single-use plastics annually, much of which flows into rivers and seas. Bali itself faces hundreds of thousands of tons of plastic waste each year, jeopardizing tourism, marine biodiversity, and the livelihoods of coastal communities.
Ayodya Resort Bali’s General Manager, Vineet Mahajan, emphasized the deeper purpose behind the program.
“We are more than a resort, we are caretakers of Bali’s spirit. Every bottle collected is a small but vital act of healing for our oceans. Our partnership with Diversey through PlasticShreds aligns with our commitment to sustainability and our decision to fully eliminate single-use plastics across the resort.”
Diversey’s Marketing & GSA Director for Southeast Asia, Deepak Sahni, echoed the sentiment, highlighting the shared mission behind the collaboration.
“PlasticShreds isn’t just waste management, it’s a pathway to restoration. Working with Ayodya Resort Bali allows us to reimagine the role of tourism in environmental protection and inspire communities to take ownership of their surroundings.”
By integrating PlasticShreds into daily operations, Ayodya Resort Bali positions itself as a leader in responsible hospitality. The beachfront station doubles as an educational hub, inviting guests of all ages to learn about Bali’s environmental challenges while contributing directly to its preservation. Each piece of plastic returned becomes a gesture of gratitude to the island and a step toward safeguarding its future.
Beyond its sustainability initiatives, the resort continues to expand its offerings. In early 2026, Ayodya will debut Liga Paddel Nusa Dua and Paint Ball Nusa Dua, enhancing its reputation as a vibrant destination for culture, recreation, and family-friendly adventures.
For travelers seeking meaningful, eco-conscious holiday experiences, Ayodya Resort Bali now offers a simple but powerful way to give back, one plastic bottle at a time. (*)
