BALINEWSID.COM, BADUNG – Police have tightened security at the domestic terminal of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport following the cancellation of 17 flights from Denpasar (DPS) to Jakarta (CGK) due to the impact of Mount Krakatau’s eruptive activity on Sunday (Sept. 6, 2026).
As of 1 p.m. local time, 17 Denpasar-Jakarta flights had been canceled. The cancellations raised concerns over potential passenger crowding in the terminal, prompting the Ngurah Rai Airport Area Police to step up security and crowd management at several points.
Police officers monitored the departure area and assisted passengers affected by the cancellations to ensure that airport operations remained safe, orderly and under control.
Head of Public Relations at the Ngurah Rai Airport Area Police, Ipda I Gede Suka Artana, said security measures had been strengthened in response to the flight disruptions.
“As of 1 p.m., 17 flights from Denpasar to Jakarta had been canceled. We have optimized security and crowd management in the domestic terminal to prevent passenger congestion and other potential public-order disturbances,” Artana said.
Police also urged passengers to remain calm and rely only on verified information from airlines and airport authorities regarding changes to flight schedules.
“We urge passengers to remain calm, avoid being influenced by unverified information, and follow instructions from airport officers and official information provided by the airlines,” he added.
The Ngurah Rai Airport Area Police, together with relevant stakeholders, will continue to monitor the situation and adjust security measures if conditions change or passenger activity at the domestic terminal increases.
