Bali Police Bomb Squad and K9 Unit Sweep BICC Nusa Dua, No Suspicious Items Found

NUSA DUA, BALINEWS — The Bali Regional Police Bomb Squad, part of the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob), together with the K9 Unit, conducted a security sweep at the Bali International Convention Centre (BICC) in Nusa Dua on Sunday, October 18, 2026. The inspection found no suspicious objects suspected of being bombs, explosives, or sabotage devices.

The operation took place from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Central Indonesia Time as part of the security measures under Operation Gapura Agung V-2026. The sweep was intended to detect and prevent potential security threats before the venue was used for scheduled activities.

The inspection team was led by AKP Dyan Wastika Putra, S.Tr.K., S.I.K., and deployed one bomb disposal unit and one K9 unit. Officers systematically checked rooms and strategic areas on the first and second floors of the convention centre.

On the first floor, the inspection covered Mangupura Hall and its lobby, Dahlia Room, restrooms, the theater room, registration area, Orchid Room, Frangipani Room, Bali Room, Hibiscus Room, Nusa Dua Room, Bougenvil Room, and the fire hydrant area.

On the second floor, officers inspected Jakarta Room, Exhibition Gallery, Interpreter Room, the control room, restrooms, Denpasar Room, Logistics Room, Surabaya Room, Bandung Room, Medan Room, Manado Room, Singaraja Room, The Lounge, Karangasem Room, Bucket Room, and Nusantara Hall.

To support a thorough inspection, officers deployed a detection dog and specialized equipment, including inspection mirrors, metal detectors, a VT300i explosive detector, and an X-am 8000 gas detector.

The equipment and K9 unit were used to support early detection efforts and identify suspicious objects or materials that could potentially compromise the security of the venue.

According to the inspection results, no suspicious items were found. Officers reported no suspected bombs, explosives, or other sabotage devices during the sweep.

Bali Police Public Relations Chief Senior Commissioner Ariasandy, S.I.K., said the security sweep was an important preventive measure to ensure the venue was safe before activities took place.

“The Bali Regional Police are committed to ensuring that every event takes place in a safe and secure environment. This security sweep demonstrates our personnel’s readiness to detect and anticipate potential threats at an early stage. The inspection at BICC Nusa Dua found no suspicious objects,” Ariasandy said.

He added that security operations were conducted professionally, systematically, and in accordance with established procedures, with personnel maintaining a high level of vigilance and attention to detail.

“Security is not only about responding when a threat occurs, but also about being prepared to prevent threats before they emerge. We encourage everyone to work together to maintain a safe and orderly environment and to report any suspicious objects or activities to the authorities,” he said.

The security sweep at BICC Nusa Dua formed part of the security arrangements under Operation Gapura Agung V-2026. Through preventive inspections and early detection measures, the Bali Regional Police aim to minimize potential security risks and support the smooth running of activities at the venue.

The operation underscores the importance of preparedness and preventive security measures in protecting everyone involved in events held in Bali.
