DENPASAR, BALINEWS – The Bomb Disposal Unit (Jibom) of the Bali Regional Police Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob), together with the K9 Unit of the Bali Regional Police’s Samapta Directorate, conducted a security sweep at The Meru Hotel in Sanur, Bali, on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, ahead of the 51st ASCOPE Council Meeting 2026.
The operation was carried out by the Sterilization Team under Task Force Operations Gapura Agung VI-2026 to ensure the venue was secure for the international meeting.
The inspection was led by AKP Nuryadi, who served as the Sterilization Team’s Field Control Officer. The team comprised personnel from the Gegana Unit of the Bali Police Mobile Brigade and qualified bomb disposal personnel from the K9 Unit.
The security sweep covered the hotel lobby, meeting rooms, guest rooms designated for delegates, parking areas, and all access routes leading into and out of the hotel.
During the inspection, officers used mirror detectors to examine hard-to-reach areas beneath tables, chairs, and vehicles. Metal detectors were also deployed to identify suspicious metallic objects that could pose a security threat.
“The Sterilization Team under Task Force Operations Gapura Agung VI conducted a thorough inspection of The Meru Hotel to ensure that the venue was safe and free from bomb threats and other potential disturbances,” AKP Nuryadi said at the scene.
Following the inspection, the team reported that no suspicious objects believed to be bombs, explosive materials, or other sabotage devices had been found. The hotel was subsequently declared clear and safe for use during the 51st ASCOPE Council Meeting 2026.
The security sweep forms part of the standard operating procedures for securing international events in Bali. The measure is intended to mitigate potential security threats and provide a safe and comfortable environment for all delegates attending the meeting.
