BULOG Allocates Rp30 Billion to Buy Eggs from Small-Scale Farmers, Distributes SPHP Corn at Rp5,000 per Kg

DENPASAR, BALINEWS – State-owned logistics company Perum BULOG, in collaboration with the National Food Agency (Bapanas), is strengthening support for small-scale layer farmers through affordable animal feed supplies and a Rp30 billion egg procurement program.

The initiative was launched during the Food SOE Synergy Program with Small-Scale Layer Farmers in Slemanan Village, Udanawu District, Blitar Regency, East Java, on Thursday (November 5, 2026).

During the event, BULOG symbolically handed over 180 tons of corn under the Food Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) program to representatives of 18 small-scale farmer cooperatives.

In addition, BULOG and state-owned food company ID FOOD are implementing an egg procurement program worth Rp30 billion, targeting small-scale farmers across Indonesia. The purchases will be carried out gradually through December 2026.

Under the SPHP corn program, BULOG provides animal feed corn at Rp5,000 per kilogram at BULOG warehouses for eligible small-scale farmers, subject to applicable requirements.

The program is expected to reduce production costs for poultry farmers, as feed accounts for a significant portion of egg production expenses. Meanwhile, the egg procurement initiative aims to strengthen market absorption and provide greater certainty for farmers selling their products.

Agriculture Minister and Head of the National Food Agency Andi Amran Sulaiman emphasized the government's commitment to providing concrete support for small-scale farmers by building an integrated poultry farming ecosystem, from production to distribution.

He said small-scale farmers play an important role in strengthening national food security and therefore require coordinated support from various institutions.

"Small-scale farmers are an important part of our national food security. The government is present to build a farming ecosystem from upstream to downstream, involving state-owned food companies. Through cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture, Bapanas, BULOG, and ID FOOD, we want farmers to become stronger, their businesses to grow, and their welfare to improve," Amran said.

Head of BULOG's Bali Regional Office, Simon Melkisedek Lakapu, said supporting small-scale farmers is an important part of BULOG's responsibility to strengthen national food security.

According to Simon, food stability is not merely about ensuring commodity availability in the market, but also about providing adequate support to producers so they can sustain and develop their businesses.

"BULOG ensures that small-scale farmers do not have to face business challenges alone. Through the SPHP Corn program, we aim to help them obtain animal feed at more affordable prices," Simon said.

He added that combining SPHP corn distribution with egg procurement would help maintain production continuity while strengthening food availability for the public.

The event also provided an opportunity for dialogue between government representatives, state-owned food companies, and farmers to gather feedback and identify challenges faced by farmers on the ground. Representatives from several regions participated both in person and online.

The event was attended by Presidential Advisory Council member Ida Bagus Purwalaksana, Deputy Agriculture Minister Saleh Mustafa, BULOG President Director Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, ID FOOD President Director Ghimoyo, and Blitar Regent Rijanto.

BULOG reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening coordination with the government, Bapanas, state-owned food companies, and farmer cooperatives to ensure that SPHP corn distribution is transparent, properly targeted, and implemented in accordance with applicable regulations.

Through this ongoing collaboration, BULOG expects to strengthen small-scale farmers, sustain national egg production, and contribute to more stable food supplies and prices across Indonesia.
