Five Foreign Nationals Deported from Bali Over Immigration Violations, Including Nearly Eight Years of Overstay

BADUNG, BALINEWS – The Denpasar Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim Denpasar) deported five foreign nationals from China, Iran, and Nigeria between November 2 and 4, 2026, following various immigration violations, including overstaying, allegedly providing false information to obtain an investor residence permit, disturbing public order, and involvement in the handling of a suspected luxury watch theft case.

The first deportations took place on November 2, involving QL (34), a Chinese national, and PGA, a Nigerian national.

QL had previously been detained following reports that he had acted aggressively and repeatedly banged on the door of a resident's house in Pandak Bandung Village, Kediri District, Tabanan Regency, on October 20, 2026.

The incident reportedly caused concern among local residents, prompting them to contact the police emergency hotline 110. The case was subsequently handled by Tabanan Police in coordination with the Tabanan Class III Non-TPI Immigration Office.

An immigration investigation revealed that QL held a B1 Visa on Arrival (VoA) but had overstayed his permitted period of stay by 372 days, beginning October 13, 2025.

Meanwhile, PGA was detained by the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office in the Canggu area of Badung on September 24, 2026. She was found to have overstayed her immigration permit by 401 days since August 20, 2025.

Both individuals were subsequently deported, with Shanghai, China, and Abuja, Nigeria, as their respective final destinations.

On November 3, Rudenim Denpasar deported another foreign national, MI (45), an Iranian man who had previously been involved in the handling of a suspected watch theft case at The Watch Co. outlet in Living World Denpasar Mall in June 2026.

In the incident, several foreign nationals were suspected of using a distraction tactic by pretending to ask employees about product prices and currency conversions. During the incident, a Seiko watch valued at IDR 5.8 million (approximately Rp5.8 million) was reported missing from the display case.

Of the four foreign nationals associated with the investigation, two — an Iranian woman and a Pakistani man — remain under police handling. Meanwhile, Denpasar City Police recommended that two Iranian men, identified by the initials MI and MH, be subjected to deportation measures and referred their cases to the Denpasar Class I TPI Immigration Office.

MI, who entered Indonesia on May 30, 2026, using a C1 Visit Stay Permit, was deported to Tehran, Iran. MH, meanwhile, remains in the deportation process at Rudenim Denpasar.

On the same day, another Nigerian national, identified as UMA (37), was deported to Abuja after being found to have overstayed his immigration permit by 2,885 days, equivalent to approximately seven years and 11 months.

UMA had previously been handled by the Denpasar Class I TPI Immigration Office in mid-April 2026.

The fifth deportation took place on November 4, involving HCJ (21), a Nigerian national who held a Limited Stay Permit (ITAS) under the investor category, valid until July 31, 2028, with PT KGT listed as his sponsor.

However, during an immigration supervision operation conducted by the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office in August 2026, HCJ was suspected of providing false information to obtain his residence permit.

He was reportedly unable to explain the company's business activities or his responsibilities as an investor. Following the findings, his residence permit was revoked, and he was subsequently deported to Abuja, Nigeria.

Head of Rudenim Denpasar, Teguh Mentalyadi, said the five deportations were carried out as part of Administrative Immigration Measures imposed on each individual.

"Every foreign national staying in Indonesia is required to comply with immigration regulations, use their residence permits in accordance with their designated purposes, and respect public safety and order. Once all administrative requirements and travel documents have been completed, we carry out deportations in accordance with applicable regulations," Teguh said in an official statement on Thursday, November 5, 2026.

In addition to deportation, all five individuals have also been proposed for inclusion on Indonesia's immigration blacklist, which would prevent them from re-entering the country for a specified period.

Teguh explained that, under Article 102 of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration, as amended, an entry ban may be imposed for a specified period and extended, or even imposed for life under certain circumstances.

However, the final decision on whether to impose an entry ban rests with the Directorate General of Immigration, which will assess the circumstances of each individual's case.

The immigration authority reiterated that all foreign nationals in Indonesia must comply with immigration regulations and ensure that their activities are consistent with the purposes of their respective stay permits.
