JAKARTA, BALINEWS — Suroso Isnandar has officially been appointed President Director of PT PLN (Persero), Indonesia’s state-owned electricity company, replacing Darmawan Prasodjo following a General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS) held on Wednesday evening, October 14, 2026.
The appointment received a positive response from H. Teuku Yudhistira, National Coordinator of Relawan Listrik untuk Negeri (Re-LUN), who said Suroso’s experience in the electricity sector could serve as an important foundation for leading the company.
Before his appointment as President Director, Suroso served as PLN’s Director of Project Management and New Renewable Energy. He was appointed to that position under Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises Decree No. SK-159/MBU/06/2025, dated June 18, 2025.
Suroso has held several strategic positions throughout his career at PLN. From 2019 to 2021, he served as General Manager of PLN’s Sulawesi Generation and Transmission Main Unit. He subsequently led PLN’s Java, Madura, and Bali Load Dispatching Center Main Unit from 2021 to 2022.
From 2022 to 2023, Suroso served as Head of the Digital and Information Technology Unit under PLN’s main directorate at its headquarters. His professional experience spans electricity system management, power generation, transmission, and corporate digital transformation.
Suroso also has an academic background in electrical engineering and power systems. He earned his bachelor's degree in Power System Engineering from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in 1994, followed by a Master of Science degree in Power System Engineering and Management from the University of Abertay in 1999. In 2025, he completed his doctoral studies in Electrical Engineering at ITB.
In addition to his academic qualifications, Suroso holds the Qualified Risk Governance Professional (QRGP) certification, which relates to corporate governance and risk management.
Re-LUN National Coordinator H. Teuku Yudhistira welcomed Suroso’s appointment and expressed hope that the new leadership would bring positive changes to PLN.
“First of all, we would like to congratulate Mr. Suroso Isnandar on being entrusted with the position of PLN President Director, in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives,” Yudhistira said in Jakarta on Wednesday evening, October 14, 2026.
Yudhistira said Suroso’s career within PLN was an important factor in his assessment of the appointment. He argued that Suroso’s familiarity with the company’s operations and the electricity sector would provide valuable experience in carrying out his responsibilities as President Director.
He also expressed hope that Suroso would strengthen the implementation of the government’s energy agenda, including the Asta Cita national priorities, the expansion of electricity access across Indonesia, the target of developing 100 gigawatts-peak (GWp) of solar power capacity, and efforts to strengthen national energy security.
Yudhistira further called on all PLN employees to support the new leadership and help improve the company’s performance and public image through concrete actions.
As the new head of Indonesia’s state-owned electricity company, Suroso faces a strategic role in overseeing the national electricity system, advancing new and renewable energy development, and driving corporate transformation amid the government’s broader efforts to strengthen national energy security.
