DENPASAR, BALINEWS.ID – Bali became the stage for international collaboration as the Human Resource Association (HRA) Bali hosted the HR Convention 2025 on August 22 under the theme “Purpose-Centric Leadership: Harnessing People Potential for Sustainable Impact.”

The convention brought together key figures from government, industry, and global communities to explore strategies for building a productive, inclusive, and sustainable workforce. A highlight of the event was the launch of the Bali Hospitality Talent Playbook, a strategic framework aimed at strengthening Bali’s talent ecosystem and cultural engagement in the hospitality sector.

In his keynote, Prof. Anwar Sanusi, Ph.D., Head of the Agency for Manpower Planning and Development, emphasized the urgency of shifting from administrative approaches to a purpose-centric mindset. He highlighted People, Productivity, and Inclusivity as the pillars of workforce transformation, particularly in Bali’s service and hospitality industries.

From the cultural and tourism perspective, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tjok Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati, M.Si, Chairman of PHRI Bali, underscored the importance of celebrating cultural heritage and positioning Bali’s local wisdom as the DNA of its global hospitality appeal. Similarly, Ida Bagus Agung Partha Adnyana, Chairman of the Bali Tourism Board, stressed the need for talent readiness to support tourism recovery and reinforce Bali’s regional branding on the world stage.

Industry leaders also contributed insights. Miftahuddin Amin, EVP & Chief Administration Officer of Paragon, shared how purpose-driven organizations can create sustainable business growth through strong people development. Dudi Arisandi, Chief People Officer of Tiket.com, highlighted the importance of building agile, customer-oriented teams to thrive in the digital transformation era.

The conversation further expanded to sustainable development goals (SDGs). John Flood, CEO of Archipelago International, emphasized visionary leadership and effective systems as keys to sustainable hospitality. Edward Speirs, Head of Publishing at Phoenix Communication & Managing Director of NOW! Magazine, reflected on the role of media in shaping narratives of responsible hospitality. Meanwhile, Rahmi Fajar Harini, Founder of Eco Tourism Bali, provided practical strategies for turning SDG awareness into actionable steps for industry players.

The convention concluded with focused group discussions addressing four pressing issues: employee protection, employer branding, mental health at work, and positive psychology in managing multigenerational workplaces.

“This event is a call to action – aligning vision, values, and concrete steps toward a more productive, inclusive, and sustainable future of work,” said Vira Risnayani, Chair of HRA Bali, in her closing statement. (*)
