BALINEWS.ID – Macau’s gastronomic landscape shines brighter as two new MICHELIN Stars are added to the city’s culinary map. The 18th edition of the MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong & Macau, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the global MICHELIN Guide, announced the awards on 19 March at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau.
This year, Palace Garden and Don Alfonso 1890, both under SJM Resorts, S.A. (SJM), each earned their first star, Macau’s only new starred additions in 2026. With these accolades, SJM’s portfolio now boasts ten MICHELIN Stars across six establishments, the largest collection in Hong Kong and Macau.
A Legacy of Excellence
SJM has long set the bar for fine dining in Macau. Since Robuchon au Dôme received the city’s first three MICHELIN Stars in 2009, the Group has maintained a stellar track record. In 2026, Robuchon au Dôme remains Macau’s only three-MICHELIN Star Western restaurant, while The Eight, SJM’s signature Cantonese venue, retains its two stars, both with an 18-year legacy in the Guide.
The newly starred Palace Garden offers a refined take on traditional Taishi cuisine, inspired by the elegance of an imperial garden. Signature dishes, such as Steamed Fresh Crab Claw with Lobster Broth Egg White, showcase meticulous technique and vibrant flavors. Meanwhile, Don Alfonso 1890, the Macau branch of the famed Iaccarino family’s Italian restaurant, delivers authentic flavors from the Sorrento Peninsula and Amalfi Coast, sourcing fresh ingredients from the family’s organic farm, Le Peracciole.
Rounding out SJM’s offerings is the one-MICHELIN Star Zuicho, known for elevated “kappo” cuisine, alongside MICHELIN Selected restaurants like Mesa by José Avillez and The Kitchen, both bringing contemporary and classic dining experiences to the city.
A Celebration of Culinary Art
SJM also hosted the MICHELIN Guide-curated “Sensory Harmony Star Dinner” at Grand Lisboa Palace, a sold-out, immersive event featuring five world-renowned chefs with a combined 14 MICHELIN Stars. Guests enjoyed fine wine pairings rated 90+ by Robert Parker, alongside multi-sensory storytelling for a truly unforgettable evening.
“This milestone underscores SJM’s enduring leadership in the region’s fine-dining landscape. From Cantonese artistry and Western haute cuisine to Italian dining and Japanese kappo, our diverse portfolio reflects Macau’s unique East-meets-West gastronomic identity. We remain committed to advancing the city’s global culinary stature and reinforcing Macau as one of Asia’s most distinguished dining capitals,” said Ms. Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM.
With its strong performance in the MICHELIN Guide and commitment to culinary innovation, SJM continues to elevate Macau as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, attracting Indonesian and international food lovers seeking world-class dining experiences.(*)
