BALINEWS.ID – The SJM Macao Open is set to return in spectacular fashion this October, bringing together world-class golfers at the Macau Golf & Country Club from October 16–19, 2025. With a prize purse of USD 1 million, this year’s tournament will see former world No. 1 Lee Westwood and Korean PGA Tour star Sungjae Im headline a stellar international line-up.
Jointly organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government (MSB), title sponsor SJM Resorts, S.A. (SJM), and IMG, and co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Macau Golf Association, the Macao Open continues to strengthen its reputation as one of Asia’s premier golf events.
Westwood, who lifted the Macao Open trophy back in 1999, expressed excitement about his return, “I have fond memories of winning here 26 years ago. The course always brings out the best in me, and I look forward to performing well this year, hopefully bringing home a second Macao Open crown.”
Meanwhile, Sungjae Im will make his debut in Macao, “I’ve heard wonderful things about the tournament and the city. The course is said to be both beautiful and challenging, and I can’t wait to compete and enjoy my first trip to Macao.”
The field will also feature defending champion Rattanon Wannasrichan, legendary Chinese golfer Liang Wenchong, and local hopeful Kelvin Si Ngai, adding further excitement to an already packed competition. Organizers also announced that the Macao Open Qualifier returns on September 8 to provide rising stars from the Greater Bay Area a chance to enter the main draw.
Officials from SJM, the Asian Tour, the Sports Bureau, and IMG all underscored their long-term commitment to building the event into a platform that merges sports and tourism, while showcasing Macao as a world-class destination for international competitions.
