KARANGASEM, BALINEWS.ID – Celebrating seven years of heartfelt hospitality, Wapa di Ume Sidemen marked its anniversary in a meaningful way, by rebuilding the home of a local resident, Ibu Jati, through a special Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Carrying the theme “Just Say Yes,” this year’s celebration went beyond festivities, highlighting the resort’s dedication to giving back to the Sidemen community. The House Renovation Program is Wapa di Ume Sidemen’s first-ever project of its kind, reflecting a spirit of compassion, gratitude, and community collaboration.
“This anniversary is not only about reflecting on our achievements but also about sharing with those who have been part of our journey,” said Gede Paskara Karilo, Managing Director of Wapa di Ume Sidemen.
“Through this program, we aim to create a more livable environment and support the well-being of our neighbors in Sidemen,” he added.
The renovation process, completed in approximately one and a half months, was carried out through a collaborative effort involving Wapa di Ume Sidemen’s team, resort guests, and local residents. The total funding exceeded IDR 50 million, alongside additional material donations from staff and well-wishers.
The beneficiary, Ibu Jati, a single mother who sells canang (Balinese offerings) at the local market, now enjoys a safer and more comfortable home. To bless the new house, the resort held a traditional Melaspas Alit ceremony, symbolizing purification and new beginnings.
Through this initiative, Wapa di Ume Sidemen once again proves that luxury hospitality can go hand-in-hand with social care. The resort remains committed to being a positive force in the community — not only by providing memorable experiences for guests but also by contributing to local empowerment and sustainability. (*)
