BADUNG, BALINEWS.ID – The new face of the former Meliá Bali has officially launched as Paradisus by Meliá Bali, marking the debut of the first Paradisus resort in Asia and introducing a new all-inclusive luxury hospitality concept to Bali’s tourism industry.

Located in the exclusive tourism enclave of The Nusa Dua, the transformed beachfront resort blends Balinese cultural immersion, luxury accommodation, wellness experiences, world-class culinary offerings, and tropical gardens with expansive fish ponds into one integrated destination.

The grand opening, held from May 15–17, 2026, signifies a major transformation of the iconic Meliá Bali property into a premium luxury destination under the global Paradisus by Meliá brand.

Paradisus Bali also introduces its independently managed YHI Spa, which incorporates wellness products from Sensatia Botanicals alongside other locally sourced Balinese products to deliver destination-inspired treatments.

Guests can also enjoy multiple restaurants and bars offering a wide range of international cuisines, including Japanese, Middle Eastern, and other global culinary concepts.

The property additionally features a newly designed ballroom with cocktail-style capacity and round-table for approximately 270 guests, positioning the resort as a premier destination for luxury meetings, weddings, and events.

President Director of PT Surya Semesta Internusa Tbk, Johannes Suriadjaja, said the massive renovation reflects the company’s long-term confidence in Bali’s tourism industry.

“We believe this all-inclusive concept will become a future standard in hospitality. Other hotel operators may eventually adopt this business model because there is a growing market for this concept,” Johannes said.

He added that the opening is expected to create more employment opportunities for local workers, with staffing increasing by around 20 percent compared to previous hotel operations due to the expansion of restaurant and hospitality facilities.

Johannes also highlighted the strong sense of family among employees at the resort.

Despite concerns over geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, Johannes said the resort remains optimistic about attracting new markets, particularly from Asia and Australia.

“We need to continue educating the Asian market about this all-inclusive luxury concept, especially visitors from Korea, China, Japan, and ASEAN countries. It may take two to three years for the concept to fully mature in this region,” he said.

Currently, European travelers dominate the guest profile, followed by Australian and Asian tourists, while domestic travelers account for around four to five percent of the market.

General Manager of Paradisus by Meliá Bali, Eduardo Castro Perera, emphasized that the resort offers more than just luxury facilities.

“Paradisus is a brand that goes far beyond beautiful structures and services. It is about connecting guests with the rich culture of Bali. This is not just a hotel, but it is a destination in itself,” Eduardo said.

He explained that the resort’s “Destination Inclusive” concept integrates Balinese culture directly into the guest experience through traditional dance performances, local craft activities, art experiences, and cultural ceremonies held within the resort.

“It is not only about food and beverages. It is about creating meaningful experiences where guests can truly connect with Bali from the beginning until the end of their stay,” he added.

PT Surya Semesta Internusa Tbk (SSIA) expects occupancy to gradually recover to pre-renovation levels, which previously reached around 80 percent during the Meliá Bali era.

The company is targeting occupancy rates of 70–75 percent by 2027 and potentially 80 percent by 2028, with investment payback projected within six to seven years.

The launch also strengthens the long-standing partnership between SSIA and InJourney Tourism Development Corporation through the extension of the Land Utilization & Land Development Agreement (LUDA) for Lot N1 in The Nusa Dua area. (*)
