BALINEWS.ID – Bali-based wellness brand Utama Spice is taking a different approach to everyday body care with the launch of its new Probiotic Deodorant, a botanical roll-on formulated to control body odour while allowing the body’s natural sweating process to continue.
The product is developed around the idea that perspiration itself is not the primary cause of body odour. Instead, odour is associated with interactions involving naturally occurring bacteria on the skin. Utama Spice’s latest product therefore focuses on managing odour while supporting the skin’s natural microbiome.
Rather than functioning as a conventional antiperspirant that aims to reduce perspiration, the Probiotic Deodorant is designed to work with the body’s natural processes. The brand said the approach reflects its belief that personal care can be both effective and gentle without unnecessarily interfering with normal bodily functions.
The formula combines probiotic ferments, Triethyl Citrate, and Zinc Ricinoleate to help neutralise odour-causing bacteria while supporting healthy skin. Aloe vera and glycerin are also included to help soothe and moisturise the underarm area.
The deodorant is free from aluminium and baking soda and comes in a fast-absorbing roll-on format. According to the brand, the formulation is intended for daily use, including by people with sensitive skin and consumers making the transition toward natural deodorants.
“We kept coming back to one simple question: why are we trying to stop something our bodies are naturally designed to do?” said Ria Templer, Director of Utama Spice.
“Sweating plays an important role in regulating our body temperature. The real challenge isn’t sweat itself, it’s body odour. We wanted to create a deodorant that addresses the source of odour while working with the skin, not against it. For us, staying fresh shouldn’t come at the expense of the body’s natural processes.”
The new Probiotic Deodorant is available in two fragrance variants, Sage & Cedar and Nayla.
Sage & Cedar offers a fresh combination of herbal notes and woody undertones, creating a clean and unisex fragrance. Meanwhile, Nayla features floral, citrus, and vanilla notes for a softer and more comforting scent.
Both variants use the same lightweight formula designed to absorb quickly and provide a comfortable feel throughout the day.
The product launch was also connected with an outdoor wellness activity in Bali. On July 26, 2026, Utama Spice partnered with FAR Ubud Run Club and Hari Lari during the Ubud Backyard Ultra, a community running event that brought together participants with different levels of experience.
Runners were challenged to complete a five-kilometre loop at their own pace, with participants able to continue from a single lap to an ultra-distance challenge. During the event, Utama Spice provided complimentary refreshments, fresh fruit, and sports drinks for participants.
Through the initiative, the company sought to highlight its broader philosophy that movement, wellbeing, and personal care can be approached by embracing the body’s natural rhythm.
The launch of the Probiotic Deodorant also marks an expansion of Utama Spice’s body care range, while reinforcing the brand’s focus on combining botanical ingredients with contemporary skincare innovation.
